Computational Complexity of the Game Theory Approach to Cost Allocation for a Tree
نویسنده
چکیده
In the game theory approach to the problem of allocating cost, the users of a facility are viewed as players in a cooperative n-person game. It is the nature of cooperative games that the power of each one of the 2"-' possible coalitions is taken into account. Thus, practical problems of allocating cost may be intractable in the game theory approach because of the computational complexity involved. However, it is shown that good algorithms do exist for the nucleolus and the Shapley value allocations for a tree. The nucleolus can be computed within 0 ( n 4 operations and the Shapley allocation in O(n) operations.

Robust uncapacitated multiple allocation hub location problem under demand uncertainty: minimization of cost deviations
The hub location–allocation problem under uncertainty is a real-world task arising in the areas such as public and freight transportation and telecommunication systems. In many applications, the demand is considered as inexact because of the forecasting inaccuracies or human’s unpredictability. This study addresses the robust uncapacitated multiple allocation hub location problem with a set of ...
متن کاملOptimal Strategy of State Lands allocation in Islamic Economics: Game Theory Approach
In the Islamic legal and economic system, a precise mechanism for land use is defined. The classification of lands, along with the flexible methods available to the government for the allocation of land, raises the question of what is the most desirable method for state lands allocation based on the Islamic legal and economic system? Accordingly, the purpose of the present study is to find a fa...
متن کاملCooperative network flow problem with pricing decisions and allocation of benefits: A game theory approach
Several real problems in telecommunication, transportation, and distribution industries can be well analyzed by network flow models. In revenue management, pricing plays a primary role which increases the profit generated from a limited supply of assets. Pricing decision directly affects the amount of service or product demand. Hence, in traditional maximum flow problem, we assume that the dema...
متن کاملEquitable Risk Allocation in Construction Projects: Fuzzy Bargaining Game Approach
An equitable risk allocation between contracting parties plays a vital role in enhancing the performance of the project. This research presents a new quantitative risk allocation approach by integrating fuzzy logic and bargaining game theory. Owing to the imprecise and uncertain nature of players’ payoffs at different risk allocation strategies, fuzzy logic is implemented to determine the value...
متن کاملThe Monotonic Cost Allocation Rule in Steiner Tree Network Games
We investigate the cost allocation strategy associated with the problem of providing some network service from source to a number of users, via the Minimum Cost Steiner Tree Network that spans the source and all the receivers. The cost of such a Steiner tree network, is distributed among its receivers. The objective of this paper is to develop a reasonably fair and computationally efficient cos...
